Pittsburgh-based recording artist Radio 45 is set to release their new single, Good Dawg<\/em>, inspired by the cherished pets many of us consider family. To celebrate the release, the band is teaming up with Pittsburgh\u2019s Animal Friends<\/a><\/em>, aiming to help \u201cGood Dawgs\u201d (and other pets) find their forever homes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABOUT THE SONG<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2024, Radio 45<\/em><\/strong> guitarist Aaron Greer found inspiration in an unexpected moment. His wife playfully sang to their dog, Marshall\u2014a spirited 3-year-old micro-mini Labradoodle\u2014saying, \u201cAre you a good dog, are you a bad dog? Which one are you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That simple, spontaneous melody stuck with Greer throughout a half-hour drive, eventually sparking the creation of a song. But as the lyrics took shape, the song turned out not to be about a dog at all\u2014it became a reflection of Greer\u2019s own life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

“Good Dawg<\/em>“<\/strong> took three days\u2014and ten years\u2014to write. It captures a decade of disappointment, hurt, frustration, and resentment, drawn from personal challenges Greer faced during that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLife is what you make of it,\u201d Greer explains passionately. \u201cEven though I had (and have) so much to be happy about, I often found myself dwelling on the hurt and the joyless side of my situations. If you don\u2019t heal your wounds, you end up bleeding on those around you, especially the ones you love and who love you in return.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At its core, Good Dawg<\/em> is about the everyday, good-hearted person fighting to stay positive when life becomes overwhelming. It\u2019s Greer\u2019s story, but it\u2019s also everyone\u2019s story\u2014a testament to overcoming struggles and refusing to let them define us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
